Have you considered getting a Brazilian or bikini wax but worried about the pain? Our team at MAD WAX specializes is bikini and Brazilian waxing with almost 10 years of waxing experience.
Our number one question we get asked is "Does waxing hurt?" and the answer is yes but we have plenty of ways to help you make it hurt much less! Prepping for your wax appointment is very important and will help your wax go even smoother.
Here are some ways you can prepare for your wax appointment:
To get the best wax possible your hair will need to be at least 1/4 inch or about the size of a grain of rice. If you hair is longer that is ok! If you are shaving we suggest to stop shaving about 2-3 weeks prior to your wax and if you are waxing we suggest waiting 3-4 weeks after your last wax.
Exfoliate your skin 24 hours prior to your wax to remove dead skin from the area. Once the dead skin is removed our wax can adhere to the hair properly resulting in a better wax.
NO caffeine and NO alcohol before your appointment. Stimulants make you much more sensitive and that won't be fun!
If you worried about the pain you may take Tylenol or Advil 30 minutes before their appointment to take the edge off.
Skip the wax if you are on an oral acne medication such as Accutane or have used it in the past 6 months. If you use prescribed creams such as Differin, Retin-A or any Retinoids, the surrounding area cannot be waxed within 7 days of product application. Waxing on these medications can cause your skin to lift.
Lastly, just try to relax. You got this! You're in good hands.
